Rio started to gain her procurement experience as an Account Executive for a Social Housing procurement consortium, selling their portfolio of frameworks to a member base of 850 Housing Associations and Local Authorities. She was then given the opportunity to support the Category Buyers and that is when she found her love for all things “procurement.”
Following on from her success at the consortium, Rio decided to take the leap and move to the private sector where she became an Assistant Buyer at a National Construction Company who design and build high end retirement living apartments. Rio managed as many as ten live sites at a time procuring all building materials and plant as well as negotiating improved rates and contract terms from a large supplier base.
After developing four strong years of public and private sector procurement experience, Rio decided it was time for her to run her own procurement department taking the position of Company Buyer at a private sector North West based Construction and Reactive Maintenance Company. In this role Rio quickly rectified the poor procurement practices within the organisation which had previously not had a Procurement department. In her time at the company Rio built a strong companywide procurement structure and put in place numerous national agreements which in turn provided substantial savings and additional contractual benefits such as rebates.
Outside of work Rio enjoys socialising with friends as well as spending time with her two Miniature Dachshunds Frankie and Arthur.
